HOTBLACK Girls

Katie and I were killed by zombies while attempting to defend our good friends in the band HOTBLACK. The good thing is that we got to kill some of them before they got the better of us. The bad thing is that Claudia almost REALLY killed the director during the video shoot!

The video production started early in the day, with the zombies sitting through hours of make up, and the band filming their indoor shots. We had to wait until dark to film outside, where all the violence and gore would be shot. After a long day of waiting for the sun to go down, the zombies, who passed the time drinking, were ready for their big scenes. It seemed easy really... each girl had a weapon to wield against zombie attack, and after fending off a few brain eaters, we would be overcome by their numbers and torn apart. First we would shoot each individual HOTBLACK Girl killing a zombie, and when everyone had a turn, we would be killed by the zombies and then, it's a wrap. My weapon of choice was the baseball bat, and I smashed my zombie in just a few takes. Claudia was up next, armed with a claw hammer. Her job was to swing the hammer into the ground (zombie) while the blood guy sprayed her in the face. Blood in her eyes and whisky in her belly, she swung that hammer... right into the director's head! It didn’t look so bad, but you can't fool around with head wounds! An ambulance was called, and production was stopped. That's right everyone, we know you've been here ALL day in your zombie make up, but it's time to go home. We do still need to film you, so can you all come back and do this again? Curses. Luckily, it wasn't too serious an injury, and it only required 5 staples to close the wound. Could have been a lot worse! When we went back to finish a few weeks later, Mike (the director) was all healed, with no lasting effects or hard feelings, and just a small scar.

I'll post the video as soon as it's finished. Check out some photos from "behind the scenes".

It's really too cold to be getting sprayed with zombie blood.

You Never Go Ass to Mouth

I watched Clerks 2 last night for probably the 100th time. It's definitely close to the top on my list of the funniest movies of all time. I love it. Anyway, it reminded me that I had these photos from a Halloween party earlier this year...

The Girls from Pulse See the Patriots

Last September, on Sunday the 21st to be exact, we were ready for some football. Our machinist was nice enough to share his season ticket seats with us. The Dolphins beat the Patriots at home, but we still had a great time. I'm no sports fan, so it was my first stadium football experience, and it was a little overwhelming. We spent the entire day eating meat and drinking like men. It was awesome.

Kinky in Helsinki

Recently got to party with our friends from Finland... Children of Bodom! Always a good show, always a good time. Some people may have had too much to drink. Two of those people may be seen in the photo below. Would you believe they're rocking out to Rihanna's "Umbrella"?

Paradise Tattoo Gathering

We recently enjoyed a weekend away from the office for the Paradise Tattoo Gathering, put on by TattooNow up at the Jiminy Peak ski resort in Hancock, MA. It was a small convention that really focused on the artists and serious collectors. Even with the tough competition of the “Rock the Ink” convention in nearby Providence, RI, the show was a success for all those who attended. Those of you who did attend the “Rock the Ink” show missed a good time, but I can’t blame you. They had Shadows Fall and Brett Michaels’ Rock of Love girls!

Our booth was in the Burbank Center where all of the forums, discussions, brutal critiques, and tattoo contests took place. The forums and discussion panels were something I had never seen at a convention before and were a great addition.

We spent our days in the booth, and our nights in the bar. It was fun spending time getting know the artists and collectors in both venues! One night at the bar, I was able to instigate a dance-off in the bar between Brett and Tom Strom. Who knew Tom always wanted to be a Solid Gold Dancer?

After last call the dance competition continued in the Pulse Condo till the wee hours of the morning. Because, hey, you can’t stop the party.

Did I forget to mention that the amenities at the Jiminy Peak resort include an alpine slide, & mountain rollercoaster? As far as I know, no serious injuries were reported!

Our friend, Nichole, Kid Robot’s “Toy Baroness” even came out for the event! I think winning the “overall female” trophy at the last award ceremony of the weekend made it worth her while.

Thanks to Durb, Tony, and Jeff from the Hell City Tattoo Fest for helping to make a first time convention a success. You guys rock!
