Red is the colour
Milla Jovovich
I love the colour red in clothes and accessories, it's one of the few colours I wear. Here's a random selection of red pictures.
They are a little bit Galliano/Dior biased, but John uses red more than any other designer I can think of. Red can be elegant, glamorous, sexy and dramatic, but never boring.

Book Club 08/28/10...
I've been in a pretty awesome book club for a couple of years now, and I think it's time I start blogging about it. We meet once a month, alternate houses, eat, drink and ACTUALLY discuss the book. I love book club because I get to read a lot of books I wouldn't have chosen for myself so that broadens my literary horizons. I also love talking about the books and find that the discussion can actually change how I originally felt about the story or characters after I'd finished reading. It's a great bunch of amazing women and we have all become friends over books.
This meeting's book was "Sarah's Key" by Tatiana de Rosnay. The book is historical fiction and takes place in 1942, Paris. The historical focus is the round up, arrest and deportation of thousands of Jewish families who were first held at the VĂ©lodrome d'Hiver and then transported to Auschwitz. The story is told from 2 perspectives, the first a little girl effected by the round ups and the second a modern American woman living and working in Paris as a journalist for more than 20 years. I did not like this book. It kept my attention, so it wasn't all bad, but overall it just didn't do it for me. I like really well developed characters or a well thought out and creative story. Give me both and I'll have a new favorite. This book had neither. It also lacked a hero. Both lead female characters in the book were weak. I'm not going to get into lengthy book reviews here but if you have a question or an opinion, please share it with me here.

This meeting's snack was Basil Palmiers. I made these and they were delicious! We read a book that mostly took place in France so I chose a French appetizer. They were full of fresh basil, garlic and parmesan cheese. I had the chance to use my new Magic Bullet for the first time to pulse the ingredients together and it was awesome. I highly recommend the Magic Bullet. From margaritas to pesto with just the twist of the wrist!
Freja Beha for Moncler AW10
Photography by Steven Meisel
Here's the gorgeous Freja Beha Erichsen shot by Steven Meisel for Moncler's AW10 campaign. I love this all cream look anytime of the year but especially for winter.
I wear a lot of cream. The other day I dug out a pair of cream Joseph knitted leggings I've had for years but never worn. They're almost identical to these. I always knew if I kept them long

Thank you Giles xxx
Frida Gustavsson for Giles SS10
My poor old Mac G4 laptop is nearly eight years old. It's like a dear old lady and could slip off at any minute. I would be lost without it. I desperately need a new one but can't afford it at the moment. For the last couple of days every time I try and do something I get what my friend Jo-Ann Furniss calls "the spinning wheel of death." So annoying!

Sunday music - The brilliant Adele
I went to see Adele at a small private gig before she was signed and her beautiful voice and pure natural talent blew me away. She has a voice that gives you goose bumps and is one of the few singers who sounds exactly the same, or even better live. You can't beat that raw energy.
I love her version of Bob Dylan's Make You Feel My Love. It's such a beautiful song. A lady did it on X
Saturday night music - The fabulous Grace Jones
I love this!!
This is a tune Mrs Jones introduced me to as I hadn't really listened to much of Grace Jones' newest album. We were jumping around my sitting room blasting this out. I love this remix by Aeroplane, it's amazing!
Bear with it, as it gets going Grace starts rocking out. Listen to the end and play loud!I absolutely love it. What do you think?

Corinne Day RIP
Corinne Day(1965-2010)
I was very sad to hear that renowned photographer Corinne Day died early this morning. Corinne was struck down with a brain tumour thirteen years ago. After undergoing extensive treatment it seemed the operations were successful, but sadly the condition returned two years ago
Corinne's revolutionary photographs of fourteen year-old Kate Moss catapulted Kate to stardom.

Getting to know you tag
Ruth used a picture of Joanna Lumley as Patsy in Ab Fab for this post, so I shall do the same. Here's a picture of the delightful Ms Lumley modeling in the Sixties
The gorgeous Ruth from Life, the universe and all that's in it has given me a 'getting to know you' tag. I've answered some of the questions before, so for fear of boring you rigid I've chosen ten. Although there are a few I'm
I made it!
My first day without any Twitter or Facebook* was great! I am going to miss funny tweets from my favorite twitter peeps, but I had been avoiding Facebook for quite awhile now, and I don't think I'll miss that at all. Time will tell. Whatever happens, both sites made it very clear that I am welcome to come back any time simply by logging in with my old user name and password... but I thought I deleted my account?
*Original post stated "social networking" where it now says "Twitter and Facebook". Thanks to my anonymous reader for pointing out the faux pas. See comments for more details.
PS- I definitely mean this to be funny.

Sun and sea views
The weather has been so awful in London I've barely been out all week. On the plus side I have finally tackled my washing mountain. The tumble drier's been going non-stop and the house looks like a Chinese laundry. I'm now becoming aware of the reality of how many clothes I actually own and it is verging on the ridiculous. I shall be having a wardrobe sort out next week. I must do a blog
