More of my wardrobe - Hooded cape

This Elsa Martinelli picture was the inspiration for this buy
I know it's not the weather for this sort of thing but I'm sorting out random bits from my wardrobe trying to decide what to keep.
We've had a gorgeous sunny day here in London.  The Actor and I went to Broadway Market to run some errands and he ended up insisting I had a few Bloody Mary's and some Mexican food with him.   He can't

More of my wardrobe

Photography by Paolo Roversi
I've been terrible at blogging recently.  After we all had an enforced break last week when Blogger went down I've been out a lot and found it hard to get back into.  Funny how you can break habits so quickly.
I'm doing well with not spending and I still haven't smoked, which is a miracle!  I haven't bought anything for over two weeks now which is quite something

Yet another sequin dress

How fabulous is this red one?I haven't found one like this on Ebay yet, but I live in hope

And I love this in gold, although I have a couple in gold already.  I don't know what it is but I keep buying really similar things.  I can't even blame it on my memory this

Mad about red and orange

My favourite colour has always been red.  I also love orange.  Both work well with my pasty English complexion.  Amazingly I only have a handful of pieces in red left and I own one bright orange sarong that I bought in Sri Lanka.
The Actor and I are off on holiday in June and I can't justify buying anything new, although I have lots I haven't really worn as our summer's have been so crap here.

Yet more sequins

Photography by Emma SummertonAbbey Lee Kershaw
How fabulous is this bronze sequin catsuit?  I have an ancient gold sequin dress I wear a lot but it leaves trails of sequins everywhere I go.  The catsuit would be lethal I'm sure.  But aren't those heels something else?
During my recent Ebay binge I bought all sorts of sequinned pieces - a jacket, a top and even a pair of knickers!  I've been

Show you my wardrobe - Part eleven

Vivienne Westwood's Portrait Collection, AW90-91
I've found lots I haven't seen for years in my wardrobe.  Some things have been hidden on hangers for ages.  This was under two other things.  I love my Vivienne Westwood corset although I can barely squeeze into it at the moment.  It was a present from a friend after the show.  I was mad on Westwood.  I also had the shorts and the boots but

Inside my wardrobe

One of my favourite Thirties dresses - I had to put one good picture on as the ones below are so awful.
I've been asked by the lovely Margaret  of Penny Dreadful Vintage to post a picture of my heaving rails.  Below are some snaps of my home made "walk-in" wardrobe.  It's still a mess even though I've been sorting through it (on and off) for a few months now all I've really managed to achieve

Reorganising my wardrobe and finding things I'd forgotten about

Terry de Havilland Margaux Wave in silver
Inspired by a post Kate at Make Do Style did on re-organising your wardrobe I embarked on a huge sort out a few months back.  I know it's shocking but I still haven't finished yet!!  I'm making it my mission to get it totally done in January, along with a list of things I haven't completed.
When I moved in I made a downstairs hallway into a walk-in

Show you my wardrobe - part ten

Photography by Emma SummertonImogen Morris Clark
I love this Italian Vogue shoot and that catsuit is amazing!
I've been feeling a bit flat this week, I think it's lack of daylight as it's not at all like me.  I'm normally getting excited about Christmas by now!
I thought my next 'Show you my wardrobe' should be something sparkly to brighten things up a bit.  I had a few hours free this

Show you my wardrobe - Part nine

Ossie Clark black silk jersey evening dress with rhinestones
I love my vintage Seventies Ossie Clark dress.   I  bought it in 2003 on Ebay for £160.  I think the seller was really disappointed with the price as it should have got a lot more bids.  I have no idea how much it's worth but it's in perfect condition and is effortlessly glamorous to wear.  I'm a huge Ossie Clark fan but this is the

Show you my wardrobe - Part eight

I'm feeling much better now, thank you so much for your good wishes.  As I'm almost finished on my 'life laundry,' although still not quite organised on the wardrobe, I thought I'd show you some more of my clothes.

I love the feel of velvet.  I have a fair bit of velvet furniture.  I don't need any more clothes

Show you my wardrobe - Part seven

I think this faux fur jacket from Mk2k is gorgeous
As it's getting colder I thought I'd show you my jackets.  I'm not terribly practical and don't have very many.  I often don't bother wearing one.  I tend to get taxi's if I'm going out and wear a lot of scarves, stoles or marabou, which are really warm, rather than a coat or a jacket.  I'm terrible at losing them too!  I've left quite a few

Show you my wardrobe - Part six

Vintage 1970's Halston tomato red lurex Grecian style one-shoulder dress

It was better to photograph in this light as the colour was more vivid and the sparkle showed up

The underneath part of the dress is fitted so it has a great shape when you move

This dress is better in action
I love that whole Studio 54 scene and the clothes from that era were some of my favourites.  There are so

Show you my wardrobe - Part five

Photography by David BaileyJean Shrimpton
I thought as the weather has been so bad and it feels like winter already I would show you my long coats next.  Of course being me, there's nothing particularly sensible and definitely nothing waterproof.  I used to wear fur but have since given them all away.  In fact I've given lots of others away too as I was running out of room.  I have one coat

Show you my wardrobe - Part four

Vintage 1930's cherry red crepe bias cut dress with rhinestone polka dots
This is the last Thirties dress I shall show you, in case it's all getting a big samey and you start dozing off.  I bought this hand made dress at a Hollywood estate sale for $150 in about 1994.
The dress is made of a heavy crepe with hand applied rhinestones.  They are clipped on with a metal circle on the inside.  They

Show you my wardrobe - Part three

Vintage 1930's cream silk dress with parrot tulip print
I've dug out a few of my vintage dresses.  I thought this one deserved it's own post.  I bought this original Thirties hand made silk dress at the estate sale of a New York socialite in 1995 for £120.  There was some fabulous things there but I chose this because I thought I'd actually wear it.  I love the twisted neckline and the unusual

Show you my wardrobe - Part two

I keep mentioning Hollywood glamour and staying in bed so I thought it only fitting that the next section of 'Show you my wardrobe' should be vintage nightgowns.
These were all bought from estate sales in Hollywood or New York.  A couple were from Ebay in America.  I bought them from a lovely dealer I made friends with, a retired French horn player with the Metropolitan opera called Richard

Show you my wardrobe - Part one

Photography by Anthony MauleEmily Didonato
I've finally begun the reorganisation of my wardrobe.  As well as a huge amount of black there are also some quite ridiculous but fun numbers in there.  I don't own a single T shirt, or a single pair of jeans.  I don't even own that many tops, mostly dresses.  It used to be funny when I was single... if a boy stayed and the next day they asked if I had
